Mark Bunte-Mark Bunte was elected as Mayor in May of 2006. He was elected to the City Council in 1989 and served for 17 years, 8 of those years as Mayor Pro-tem. Mark and his wife Becky have one daughter. Mark retired from Bastrop Independent School District in 2005 as a Master Plumber.
Mayor Pro-tem Mike Kahanek was appointed to the City Council in 1998 to fill an unexpired term in Place 2, where he has continued to serve since. Mike and his wife Liz have three sons. Mike is employed by the Lower Colorado River Authority as Railfleet Manager in Smithville.
Councilwoman Lenel Tamez was elected to Place 3 on the City Council in May of 2007. Lenel is married to Rick Tamez and has one son. She works for TrustTexas Bank in Bastrop as Office Manager.
Councilman Robert Tamble - Robert Tamble was elected to the City Council, Place 1, in May of 2007. Robert and his wife Sheila have two sons. Robert is employed by Applied Materials as Director of Environmental, Health and Safety.
Councilman Chachi Rodriguez - Chachi Rodriguez was elected to City Council, Place 4 in May 2006. Chachi is Supervisor of Welding and Mechanical for Sheridan Production. He and his wife Laurie have one son.
Councilman Larry Espinoza - Larry Espinoza was elected for Place 5 of the City Council back in 2002. Larry is employed by Centerpoint Energy as a C & M Technician. Larry and his wife Mary stay plenty busy with their six children and fifteen grandchildren.
