New Recycling Center Hours

In an effort to control theft and illegal dumping, security gates have been installed at the Smithville Recycling Center.  Beginning June 1, 2015, the Smithville Recycling Center will be open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm seven (7) days a week.  The Recycling Center is located at 404 Gazley next to Riverside Exxon and across the street from Brookshire Brothers.  See table below for a list of acceptable materials for recycling and how to prepare them.  For additional information, contact City Hall at 512-237-3282. 

 

Here are the materials acceptable for recycling and how to prepare them:

NEWSPAPER

PLASTIC

METALS

CARDBOARD

WASTE OIL

Newspaper with glossy inserts, magazines, & catalogs

#1 and #2 soft drink bottles, milk jugs, & plastic grocery sacks

Aluminum, steel, & food and beverage cans

Corrugated cardboard boxes, feed sacks, & brown paper sacks

Used motor oil & filters only

Bag in brown grocery sacks or bundle

Rinse containers and remove lids

Rinse containers and remove lids

Flatten all boxes and bundle

Bring in sealed containers; drain filters
