Animal Control Officer
The City of Smithville is accepting applications for a full-time position as Animal Control Officer. Applicants must have a Valid Texas Driver License and High School Diploma/GED. Work experience with animals a plus. Applicant must possess, or be able to obtain a state certified Animal Control Officer license within one year of hire. Peace Officer: The City of Smithville is currently seeking applications for Peace Officer. Applicants must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State Drivers’ License without record of suspension or revocation in any state; ability to meet Department’s physical standers. Formal application, education and experience; offer of employment; psychological examination; drug screening. Position works on assigned shifts using own judgment in deciding course of action; is expected to handle difficult and emergency situations while patrolling the city streets, parks, commercial and residential areas. Electric Laborer/Helper: Assist Journey-level craft personnel in performance of routine repairs and maintenance of power lines, and associated work. Performs routine repairs and maintenance and assist in more complex maintenance and repair of the utility system. Applicants must have a High School diploma/GED and a valid Driver’s License and Class B Commercial License or able to obtain one within 6 months of hire. Candidates should be aware that this position requires successful applicants to work overtime, which include extended days, call-out for emergency work, and at time weekend and holiday work.
