The City of Smithville is currently seeking applications for an Accounting /General Clerk. Must have a Highschool Diploma or GED. Must be able to perform various types of duties of Secretary/Clerk. Responsible for day to day operations of the building, electrical, and plumbing permits, cemetery, requiring specialized knowledge of the code/fees. Must stay abreast of City Code of Ordinances and changes to the City Ordinances and procedures. Must have some knowledge of accounting. Must familiarize oneself with the files and the systems in use. Police Officer: The City of Smithville is currently seeking applications for Police Officer. Applicants must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State Drivers’ License without a record of suspension or revocation in any state; ability to meet the Department’s physical standards. Formal application, education, and experience; offer of employment; psychological examination; drug screening. Position works on assigned shifts using own judgment in deciding course of action; is expected to handle difficult and emergency situations while patrolling the city streets, parks, commercial and residential areas.
