A dead bat was recently found at the intersection of 2nd Street and Main Street on February 27, 2026. The bat was submitted to the health department for testing and has tested positive for rabies.

If you or your pets may have had contact with this bat, please contact Animal Control Officer William Dildine at the Smithville Police Department as soon as possible at 512-237-3282 (option #5).
