  • No, we are closed on Saturday and Sunday. Office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM

  • On Monday through Thursday, if you come in the morning then service will be done by the end of the day. If you come on Friday, service will be done on Monday.

  • We only service inside the city limits. If you live in Indian Lake, Lake Thunderbird, etc. your service is provided by someone else.

  • Various reasons, depending on your usage for the month. For example, your bill may be higher during summer months because of air conditioning use.

  • Trash is picked up on designated days depending on where you live. Please look at the map to determine your days for pickup. Waste Management will pick up between 7 AM and 5 PM on your designated pickup days. Please have your trash out before 7 AM.

  • Beginning January 1, 2024, there will be an annual fee per household to use the Recycling Center. There will be two (2) different membership cards – one for residents($50/year) and one for non-residents ($100/year). Recycling Center membership cards will be available at City Hall (317 Main).

    Here Are the Materials Acceptable for Recycling and How to Prepare Them:

    Newspaper, Plastic, Metals, Cardboard, Waste Oil, Newspaper with glossy inserts, magazines, and catalogs, Number 1 and Number 2 soft drink bottles, milk jugs, etc...

    Aluminum, steel, and food and beverage cans, Corrugated cardboard boxes, and brown paper sacks, used motor oil and filters only, bag in brown grocery sacks or bundle, Rinse containers and remove lids, flatten all boxes and bundle, Bring in sealed containers; drain filters


    The items should not be brought to the recycling center:

    No antifreeze, hydraulic oil, gasoline, kerosene, diesel, or chemicals of any kind. Call for instructions.

    No light bulbs, plate glass, tempered glass, mirrors, ceramics, or beverage glasses.

  • In order to start receiving any utility services from the City of Smithville, you must first go to the City Hall, or call the Utility Department at (512) 237-3282 extension #1. Once you have spoken with the appropriate representative, you will be requested to provide the information necessary for receiving utility services, such as your contact information and the address of the location that needs services, and to fill out the Utility Application (PDF).
