Library Catalog
- Visit the Card catalog online.
The library's complete card catalog is available online. With the Library's new Apollo system, you search for items by title, author, subject, and reading level. This service is useful for checking which books are available before actually going to the library. You can also log in and manage your library account online. If the library doesn't currently own a book that you're looking for, you can stop by the library and ask about requesting it from another library in the area or even ordering a copy for the library to own, or you can use the library's online system for these requests, or to reserve a title they do have.
Kids & Teens
- Visit the Kids and Teens' resources.
There are a number of ways for kids and teenagers to get involved with the Smithville Library. Reading programs can help younger children learn to read, and older kids can volunteer to help with these and other tutoring programs. Also, the young adult section is currently being expanded, so opinions on what young adults would like to read these days are welcome.
Online Research
- Visit the Online Research List.
There's no substitute for going to the library to check out a few nonfiction books for research, but if you don't have time to look through the library's vast collection of knowledge, the Smithville Library site has links to a number of helpful online research sites. Included are sites that have online magazine articles, encyclopedia entries, news, suggested reading material, community groups, and other helpful informative sites.
